Moors figures striking the bell, St Mark's Clock Tower, Venice
The Clock Tower in Venice is an early Renaissance building on the north side of St Mark’s Square. It comprises a tower, which contains the clock, and lower buildings on each side. Both the tower and the clock date from the last decade of the 15th century, though the mechanism of the clock has subsequently been much altered. It was placed where the clock would be visible from the waters of the lagoon and to give notice of the wealth and glory of Venice. On a terrace at the top of the tower are two great bronze figures, hinged at the waist, which strike the hours on a bell. One is old and the other young, to show the passing of time and, although said to represent shepherds (they are wearing sheepskins) or giants (they are huge figures of great mass, necessary so that their form can be recognized at a distance) they are known as "the Moors" because of the dark patina acquired by the bronze. The bell is also original and is signed by Simeone Campanato who cast it at the Venice Arsenal in 1497.

The resolution of up to 720 dpi and the enlarged CMYK colour spectrum allows accurate colour reproduction with clear contours. We only use textiles that are free of harmful substances and that have been awarded the internationally recognised Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification. Your image is mounted on the solid wood stretcher frame in its true form using only, high quality stretcher frames made of solid wood. The spruce wood comes from German suppliers and is sourced from sustainable forests. To give the stretcher frames permanent protection from losing shape, we triple reinforce the corners under the textile print using metal braces. When mounting on the stretcher frame we avoid using wedges – the frame is so stable that you won't need to loosen or tighten it at a later stage and it will arrive ready to hang.
